Letterbook, 1839 Jun.-1846 Jun., kept by New York City attorney and Marine Court judge James Lynch, containing drafts and copies of letters sent by him to associates. Letters pertain to such matters as the progress of individual cases, his various clients' interests, the organization of the courts in New York City, points of law, trials, contemporary Whig politics, financial matters, etc. Many of the letters are unaddressed, but correspondents include: John Armstrong, Jr., Willis Hall, William B. Platt, Killian Miller, and others.

Nothing is known of Killian Miller other than a friendship he had with members of the Traver family, some of whom were born in Hudson, NY. Jonathan Wood was a member of the New Lebanon, NY, Shaker community. He was born on August 27, 1791 and died on July 6, 1861. The Shakers admitted him in 1808, and he signed the covenant in 1814.
